The postal company has been accused of failing to learn from previous mistakes, as it was hit with it’s largest ever penalty for a safety offence.
The fine was issued after a yard marshal was hit by a lorry at a yard outside a Mail Centre in West London. He was knocked unconscious and sustained multiple serious injuries.
The court heard that no risk assessment had been conducted, that there was no monitoring and arrangements for workplace transport were inadequate including road markings and signage.
